Searching for a new SUV that fits your lifestyle requires a lot of research. At Hoffman Ford, we know there are plenty of options on the market, which can make it an overwhelming experience. You'll want to narrow down your choices based on which automaker is superior, which model has the safest features and which vehicle is ultimately the right choice.

Instead of feeling overcome with options, our SUV comparison will help you see the advantages of investing in a new or used Ford Escape for sale in Harrisburg - they are advanced vehicles that dominate the competition in more ways than one.

The Ford Escape in a Nutshell

The Ford Escape is a competitive and class-leading SUV that has a softer look to its new design. Capable of seating up to five people, there is enough space to keep you comfortable, whether you're driving or in the back seat - even adults sitting in the back won't feel cramped.

On top of the spacious interior, the compact SUV delivers style and performance all in one design. With a versatile build, it handles better than most of its rivals and is easy to drive with impressive characteristics.

The 2019, 2020, and 2021 models are the ideal crossovers for every type of driver, including those with families. With a towing capacity up to 3,500 pounds, you'd be able to haul your boat or RV during the summer or pull a trailer in the winter - it's a breeze with the Escape's standard 180 HP engine or the 250 HP EcoBoost.

The Escape also delivers fast acceleration and excellent gas mileage with up to 44 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. Because of its low center of gravity, you feel planted to the ground, making it more fun to drive. Other Ford Escape features include:

  • SYNC3 system
  • Large touchscreen
  • Apple CarPlay
  • Exceptional driver visibility
  • Moonroof
  • Satellite radio

The Escape has a three-year or 36,000-mile limited warranty and a five-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. Available models include the Ford Escape S, SE, SEL and Titanium.

Ford Escape vs. Toyota Rav4

The Ford Escape is lightweight thanks to its compact build. With the second-largest wheelbase and the most width compared to all four of its competitors, the Escape also has a unique element of being the only one with a three-cylinder engine. The engine offers a powerful range of gas engines compared to other crossovers.

The Ford has smooth body lines and a clean and simple rear. It also shows off a set of streamlined controls in the cabin with a touchscreen and an optional digital instrument cluster to give you vital information. You can also enjoy a rotary gear shift instead of hassling with the previous bulky stalk.

In contrast to the Escape, the Toyota Rav4 is one of the most expensive SUV models. It also appears boxier and has a less cohesive control setup inside the cabin.

Ford Escape vs. Honda CR-V

The 2019 version of the Ford Escape is a complete redesign from the previous model that delivers a superior ride quality and a smooth transmission. It comes standard with an automatic eight-speed transmission, which is two more available options than the Honda CR-V. The Escape also has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine or the turbocharged 250 HP option.

The front headroom in the Ford Escape is almost 40 inches, and the compact SUV comes with the Co-Pilot 360, which is a series of driver-assist features. You can also choose between a hybrid and a soon-coming plug-in version. Pick from four available models that offer front and all-wheel drive, along with great handling and comfort.

In contrast, the CR-V is more expensive but comparable to the other SUV options. It also has a limited tow rating with an AWD option that's only for mud and snow. The Honda CR-V has one other engine option - 190 HP - which doesn't come close to the Escape's upgrades.

Although both vehicles have similar dimensions, the Ford is more spacious - and while they both have safety and tech features, the Ford also has special packages. The packages are available for upgrading and customization while the CR-V has none. If you want to customize the CR-V, you have to move up in trim levels.

Ford Escape vs. Nissan Rogue

Comparing the Ford Escape to the Nissan Rogue, the Ford has more horsepower sitting at 180 and a torque of 177 pound-feet. The Escape also doesn't skimp on small-item storage units. Adults can also sit in the back and feel comfortable, thanks to the additional legroom and extra rear-seat headroom.

The Ford has the power of a crossover and the handling of a hatchback vehicle. In all aspects of trailering, such as maximum trailer capacity, weight and tongue weight, the Escape surpasses the Rogue.

The Rogue only has 170 HP and 175 pound-feet of torque, giving it less power to get you through. It also has cramped back seats that may be uncomfortable for adults to enjoy.

Ford Escape vs. Chevy Equinox

If you opt for the Escape Turbo I-4 engine, you'll benefit from 275 pound-feet of torque, which is 15 more than the Chevy Equinox. The Ford features an eight-speed automatic transmission while the Equinox has a six-speed standard automatic transmission. The competition also only has 260 pound-feet of torque when you upgrade to a turbo engine.

The Ford Escape has better gas mileage, so you can go further and longer when traveling. It also has an AWD drive while the competition offers front-wheel drive. The Escape has about two inches more when it comes to front leg space and about seven cubic feet more of cargo space.

You can also choose from an extensive range of exterior colors for your Ford compared to the two options of the Chevy.
